According to Live Cricket BPL, free agent wing Glenn Robinson III recently completed a workout with the Boston Celtics. Once cut from the Sacramento Kings and absent from professional action since, Robinson now appears eager to make an NBA return for the upcoming season. Earlier, he also participated in a workout with his former team, the Golden State Warriors. Sometimes the best revenge is success, and Robinson is clearly chasing his shot at redemption.
Originally selected 40th overall in the second round of the NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Robinson carries a notable legacy—he is the son of former NBA star Glenn Robinson. Over the years, he has played for several teams including the Timberwolves, 76ers, Pacers, Pistons, Warriors, and Kings. Currently, the Celtics roster includes only 13 players on standard contracts, and just 11 of those are fully guaranteed. This leaves Boston with a few open spots for potential new signings.
The Celtics have been actively exploring their options. In addition to Robinson, they have also held workouts for T.J. Warren, Lamar Stevens, and Louis King. It’s clear the team isn’t putting all their eggs in one basket. Boston is also considering re-signing veteran forward Blake Griffin, who played for the team last season. From recent interviews, Griffin has shown strong interest in a return, making the competition for a roster spot even more intense for Robinson.
One player the Celtics appear particularly interested in is Dalano Banton. Reports suggest the team values his potential and is likely to bring him into training camp for a closer evaluation. However, if a more promising option emerges during camp or on the free agent market, Banton could be waived without much cost. After all, leaving space for what you truly value is what effort is all about.
Banton’s previous two seasons with the Toronto Raptors were underwhelming, which led to his departure this summer. Still, he has only been in the league for two years, and his performances in Summer League showed flashes of promise. He possesses strong physical tools and a natural feel for the game. That said, as Live Cricket BPL points out, securing a consistent rotation role will require significant improvement in his shooting efficiency. If he stays on the roster, Banton is likely to begin the season as a reserve on the Celtics bench.
